This is an example of pure altruism.
Alessandro helped those victims out of the goodness of his heart -  he didn't want any sort of rewards for what he did, be those extrinsic or intrinsic. This is the reason why he did everything anonymously and never told anyone about his actions - because all he wanted to do was to help those in need.
