The squirrel had a larger brain and is smarter. I say this because the squirrel has to be smart enough to gain a large amount of nuts, hide those nuts from others, and remember where those nuts are. On the other hand, the mole is less smart bc it is primarily underground. The mole's location underground helps to keep it safe from other predators so it doesn't have to worry too much about that. the mole also can't see which means that sight isn't of enough importance to keep.
