Theme is the story’s main message. The theme allows viewers/readers to look at the main conflict in a larger perspective. They raise questions, and highten emotions. A topic is explaining what the story is about. To sum it up topics explain what a story is about and themes are the deeper meaning and the reason why it was written in the first place. For example in the movie “Marley and me” the topic is a couple gets a dog and has a family. The theme of the story is the love you can have in family, heartbreak, and the struggles of growing up and marriage.
